In a sense every culture and sociopolitical system that presently exists is modern.
Even sharia law has ‘progressed,’ because change is inevitable necessitating constant adaptations. But that’s not what moderns mean when they use the term. They mean ‘progress,’ as in the movement towards Americanism. They hold the American model as the most progressive, the most modern, viz., what is considered to be the most liberal and nihilistic, freeing men from their undesirable pasts – short for anti-nature. They imagine it as a progressive approach towards the superior, or what is ‘better’ than what preceded it.
Despite the havoc it is producing when and where it is adopted, they persist in believing that this “liberation of man from nature” is a movement towards the better – secularized salvation.
Ironically, this progressiveness is currently destroying the United States, as they proudly declare that there are no modern American men nor any women who would willingly return to traditional lifestyles, whilst their own systems are imploding because of this fact, in as much as it is a fact within the American dominion. In their haste to reach this promised techno-utopia where traditions will finally be left behind and forgotten they fail to perceive what their naive fanaticism is causing. Such obtuseness is also a product of America’s progressive modernism.
Jon Stuart Leibowitz discovered about ‘freedom’ what many Americans are realizing about ‘liberal democracy’ and America in general:
Freedom has a cost. Chaos is the price. More freedom means more chaos.
It is now becoming clear that America’s vaunted ‘freedoms’ are becoming progressively selective, because their costs could only be paid when wealth was sufficient to absorb the consequences.
Americanism’s collapse will necessitate a return to traditions they think have been ‘surpassed.’
